Cowboy Coffee at Gunstock Campground

Making reservations at Gunstock campground resort for the weekend of the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam was a no-brainer. Gunstock has been a favorite New Hampshire campground of mine for many years, and its proximity to the Meadowbrook Pavilion made it ideal for this motorcycle camping weekend.

Gunstock campground is located on scenic Route 11A in Gilford, NH and is in easy reach of Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee and Laconia.

Gunstock’s campsites sit at the base of a mountain, with hundreds of tent and camper sites grouped around this mountain basin. Electricity and running water are available if desired, although not needed with a motorcycle, and the shower and restroom facilities are adequate for the size of the campground.

A freshwater stream runs through the property, with a collection pool that allows for onsite trout fishing. Gunstock also features other outdoor activities such as a swimming pool, volleyball net and horseshoe pits.

Gunstock is also a motorcycle friendly campground, although during Laconia Bike Week, their normally reasonable rates skyrocket. This however is seemingly the case with nearly every lodging facility in the area.

As the years pass, Gunstock continues to grow and improve. If you haven’t pitched a tent at Gunstock during a motorcycle camping trip, I highly recommend this New Hampshire destination.
